Meet the Honorary Consul General Dana Beldiman

Dana BeldimanDana Beldiman was appointed as Honorary Consul of Romania in San Francisco by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania and accredited by the Department of State of the United States in June 1999. While acting as Honorary Consul of Romania, she continues her practice with the law firm of Carroll, Burdick & McDonough LLP in San Francisco. She specializes in international law and intellectual property law with an emphasis on information technology and e-commerce.

Ms. Beldiman was born in Sibiu, Romania. After graduating from the University of Bucharest, she followed a course of studies at the Academy of Economic Sciences in Bucharest. In 1980 she moved to the United States and graduated from Hastings College of the Law, University of California, San Francisco in 1985. Since that time Ms. Beldiman has been a practicing attorney in San Francisco. Ms Beldiman holds an LLM in Intellectual Property and teaches law at law schools in the U.S. and overseas.

Ms. Beldiman’s has been active in and continues to hold leadership positions in numerous business, professional and community organizations, including the American Bar Association, the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, and the International Diplomacy Council of San Francisco. She regularly speaks and lectures on legal and business topics. In addition to English and Romanian, Ms. Beldiman is fluent in French and German.

In her free time she enjoys modern art, travel, reading, tennis and skiing.

Meet the Honorary Consul George Roth

George RothGeorge Roth was born in Cluj, one of Romania’s most important cities. He graduated with a MS in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Babes Bolyai University in Cluj in 1980. His career started at the Cluj Territorial Center for Computation (CTCE) where he worked until 1991, when he emigrated to the U.S.

During his early years in the U.S., he worked as a Software Architect on numerous projects for large financial institutions. In 1999, together with Ken Rogers, he started Recognos Inc. One year later, George, Ken and Romanian partner Romeo Macaria established Recognos Romania, a U.S. Romanian joint venture in George’s home town of Cluj. Recognos Romania now employs over 60 software developers and focuses on products for the U.S. capital markets and web applications for a broad range of industries.

In 1998 George became involved in promoting the Romanian IT industry in the Bay Area. He is one of the founding members of the Romanian American Business Network, whose mission it is to bring together people with an interest in the Romanian business environment.

Since 1998, George has been very active in promoting Romanian interests in the Bay Area, participating in countless networking events, organizing visits for several official Romanian business and government delegations in the Bay Area and facilitating contacts between many US companies and the Romanian business environment.
